In the 1930's scientists isolated the plant growth regulators which help plants to initiate new roots during propagation from cuttings.
These regulators are called auxins or plant rooting hormones.
The most successfully used and popular auxin is Indole-3-butyric acid (IBA).
IBA is most common in ready to use rooting hormone products.
Hortus IBA WATER SOLUBLE SALTS (20%)
dissolve in water without difficulty.
It contains specially compounded IBA at twenty percent active ingredient.
It can be made into very high concentration stock solutions which can be diluted to make working solutions. Hortus IBA WATER SOLUBLE SALTS (20%) are US EPA registered (US EPA Reg. #63310-22) for use by plant growers in nurseries and greenhouses.
It has an approved label under the WPS with a Zero Hour Re-Entry Interval.
Growers can apply Hortus IBA WATER SOLUBLE SALTS (20%) to plants and remain in the growing area using minimum PPE with no notification requirement
Hortus IBA WATER SOLUBLE SALTS are fully soluble in water.
(By comparison, IBA salts are insoluble in water and are usually dissolved in alcohol. An alcohol solution of IBA in a high concentration is often is difficult to maintain in solution and will precipitate. Alcohol can be toxic to plant tissue and is not an ideal solvent.)
Hortus IBA WATER SOLUBLE SALTS are very inexpensive, easy to measure and easy to keep in solution.
(By comparison, K-IBA, is difficult to obtain, is quite expensive, and is difficult to maintain in solution.)
